Steve has been employed by the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District for over seven years, and has been an exemplary employee over that time.Steve always has a positive attitude, and he is an asset to his crew.Steve’s skills as a paramedic are first-rate, his interaction with patients is unmatched, and his documentation is always complete and thorough. In addition to serving the district as a firefighter/paramedic, Steve has been certified to perform field-level maintenance on the Scott SCBAs used by the district. He has been certified by The ROCO Corporation for completing their Rescue I course in Confined Space and Structural Rope Rescue. He has also served the district as a Basic Life Support Instructor, providing instruction to both employees and residents of the district.Steve is also very diligent in his pursuit of continuing education, enrolling in many classes offered outside the district to further his knowledge and skill in providing emergency, pre-hospital care.

For the past three years, Steve has served as one of the members of the district certified to install child car seats. For the past 18 months, he has served as the district’s only child car seat installer. His work with people requesting child car seat installation has been tireless, and he performs it without a word of complaint, even on the weekends.Steve will properly install owner-supplied seats as well as free car seats issued by the St. Louis County Department of Health. From the period of August 1, 2006 through July 1, 2007, Steve has installed 307 car seats. Of those 307 seats, 270 were owner-supplied seats.Of those 270, 188 were residents of the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District. The remaining 82 seats were installed for residents from neighboring areas: 28 from Black Jack, 7 from Ferguson, and 11 from Hazelwood. The remaining 37 seats were free car seats issued by the St. Louis County Department of Health. There were 13 seats issued to residents of the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District, and the remaining 24 went to residents from all over North County: Moline, Jennings, Spanish Lake, Berkeley, Riverview, Bellefontaine Neighbors, and Normandy, just to name a few.

As one can plainly see, Steve certainly demonstrates outstanding dedication and service to not only the residents of the fire district, but the entire North County area.
